Home of "Qaikas Nan", the Great Grizzly Bear
Tucked away on the Central Coast of British Columbia, Canada,
is the Koeye, one of the few remaining ecologically intact coastal
river valleys. Surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches, countless
inlets and coves, the Koeye is a world-class wilderness destination.
The Koeye is pronounced "Kway" and means "bird
sitting on the water" in the native interpretation of the
Heiltsuk and Oweekeno people.
At the mouth of the Koeye River, nestled on a rocky point, looking
out across the waters of the famous "Inside Passage",
is the Koeye Lodge, a unique coastal retreat in the heart of the
Great Bear Rainforest.

The Koeye Lodge is a wonderful venue for grizzly bear viewing,
wilderness retreats, weddings, incentive travel, board meetings,
team building and educational workshops.
At Koeye, the world of spirit and adventure awaits you! The Koeye
estuary is one of the only places left on the coast where grizzly
bears still roam white sand beaches in sight of the open Pacific.
Each summer, Heiltsuk youth gather in a nearby camp to experience
and celebrate Heiltsuk cultural history, and to renew their spiritual
connection to the land that has sustained their ancestors for
centuries.
Explore old growth forests, wetlands, river and estuary, learn
about Coastal First Nations Culture, and walk on the well-worn
path of 'Qaikas Nan', the Great Grizzly Bear. Just as surely as
the sun rises and sets on this wild and forgotten coast, you will
arrive in awe and leave in peace.
